Most leaks get found the direct way: a visual inspection of the fixture, the wall, or the line in question. When opening a wall isn’t an option, or when the source isn’t obvious from the outside, we bring in thermal imaging to locate the problem without demolition.
We work in copper for water distribution and cast iron for drain lines. PVC and PEX are both legal for plumbing work in New York City. We don’t use either. Copper and cast iron cost more and last longer. That’s the trade we make on every job, not just the ones where someone’s watching.
We install and provide pump repair in NYC for pressure pumps, circulating pumps, sump pumps, and booster pumps. No single pump type fails more than another. They’re electromechanical devices, and they wear out at roughly the same rate regardless of type.
Water meters get replaced for a few different reasons: the meter fails outright, the Department of Environmental Protection stops getting a reading from it or a commercial building needs a submeter installed to track high usage. A restaurant tenant, for example.
IF DEP is asking for the replacement, the building may be entitled to reimbursement. We tell customers plainly that the meter appears to be entitled to reimbursement under the DEP program, but we don’t guarantee it. Reimbursement can be denied for reasons outside our control. An unpaid water bill on the account is the most common one. We file the paperwork either way, and approval is the norm when the account is in good standing.
We offer drain cleaning using mechanical snaking and video inspection with a rigid camera snake. For a routine or non-urgent stoppage, we’ll get it cleared.
Emergency stoppages are different. After-hours rates make BPNY a more expensive call than a dedicated drain cleaning company for something that needs to be fixed right now. If you’re dealing with an active emergency, we’ll tell you honestly that a drain specialist will likely get to you faster and for less money.
